Dear Traveller,

This would be an attempt to provide you with some insight on the best times to travel (ok, and places…). I will not mention if these times were actually visited by me or I heard of them (There are rules about talking about stuff like that and I will have no one bugging me about it, ok? – So, feel free to ask anything… just know that some pieces of information WILL NOT be available to you… :-) )

Usually time travelling for more than a weeks time can be exhausting… So, if you decide to extend your visit, make sure to be prepared and under no circumstance be recognized…

Be careful with your current technological gadgets and never ever ever EVER leave anything be seen or behind…

Other than that, all you travellers know the rules, the do’s and dont’s…

So after this small introduction, I guess I’ll get to my point.

Today’s suggestion:

Week 21 – 27 December 1932
Caution:

First of all, try to avoid China, especially the Kansu Province. I do know that the past of China is an attraction for us all, but you don’t want to be there when the earthquake happens and be one of the 70,000 dead…
So December 25, 1932, China baaaaaaaaaaaaad…

Try to avoid Bolivia and Paraguay too, cause of the war.I’m not going to get into it, just trust me on that…
Observe the first time…

  • James Chadwick discovers the neutron (Now, that’s a great dinner conversation),
  • Pablo Picasso painting the “Girl Before a Mirror” masterpiece (he’s got a very bad temper so try to speak as little as possible) and
  • The Kennedy-Thorndike experiment, showing that measured time as well as length are affected by motion, in accordance with the theory of special relativity (Something every time traveller who respects him/herself should experience)

Activities you shouldn’t miss:

If you decide to go in the Uk or in America, don’t miss the change to buy a Mars Bar, and enjoy the fact that you will be on the first people in the planet to ever eat one. Mind the fact, though, that the taste is slightly more bitter than the ones we have in 2008. Still tastes great though…

Also, take some time to watch “Tom and Jerry” and “Betty Boop” cartoons first episodes, that were released at the time on tv (that can be difficult, but experienced time travellers know how to get around these things). If you’re a movies-fan, watch “The Mummy” with Boris Karloff, which is a most cult experience to say the least!

One of the coolest event you can attend is the Nobel Prize Awards Ceremony and get the chance to talk to Sir Charles Scott Sherrington about neurons or Werner Karl Heisenberg about quantum mechanics (try not to give them food for thought…). Black tie event, gorgeous gowns and a great after party… as long as you stay away from the shrimp…

Make sure, you visit a casual restaurant and chill out to the tunes that were hot at the time (“Night & Day” by Fred Astaire & Leo Reisman, “It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing)” by Duke Ellington and “All of me” by Louis Armstrong)

(Editors request: If anyone goes then, get me a copy of “I Can’t Get Mississippi Off My Mind” by Billy Cotton Band. I can’t seem to find mine anywhere…)

I guess, that’s it for today…

Make sure your cloths and currency are appropriate and practice the proper language and dialects of the places you visit.

Other than that, you’re good to go!…

Until the next post,

E.
